We’ve known Captain Marvel was coming for quite some time. Brie Larson announced that she was cast in the role over three years ago, and we got our hint that she was coming at the end of Avengers: Infinity War. Now that she’s here, did it live up to all the hype?
Sure. Maybe not in the same way that Black Panther lived up to its hype, but it was good nonetheless. The internet has a tendency to blow things out of proportion, and they did so here. Would a female-led Marvel movie work? Yes, obviously it would. And it super did, breaking domestic and global records for a film with a female lead. Why wouldn’t it work? It says Marvel at the front, and at the very least you get a “secret” mid-credits scene that contributes to the overall Avengers storyline. It did its job, maybe not perfectly, but it did it. And we’re excited for more.
