After Bohemian Rhapsody failed to deliver, we kind of lowered our hopes for the Elton John biopic, Rocketman. We hadn’t seen much of it yet so we weren’t sure what to expect. But as more and more trailers released it became apparent that THIS was going to be the gay icon biopic we really wanted.

Rocketman stars Taron Egerton as Elton and does it swimmingly. He worked with him on Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and sang I’m Still Standing in the animated film, Sing. So with the relationship and skills already established it was a perfect fit.

One thing they don’t outright tell you is that Rocketman is a full-on musical. They tell the story through song, and it is magnificent. So visual, so well put together. It is everything we wanted from a movie about one of the most eccentric and prolific artists of our time. Go see it. It deserves your attention.

Next we chat briefly about Godzilla: King of the Monsters. We don’t actually dig into Godzilla, but we do flip the script by watching the movie as if all the monsters were gay. It changes everything for the better, I must say. And we did like the movie, we just don’t linger on it.

We end with Wil’s favorite thing to do, chat about new music! Of course we have to talk about the new Carly Rae Jepsen album, as well as the new Madonna song. To hear all our thoughts you’re going to have to tune in! Make sure you’ve got a good sound system because we’ve littered some clips in for you to enjoy. So plug in, get cozy and enjoy today’s gay icon-filled episode of So…I’m Watching This Show!
