If you asked us what our favorite genre of music is, neither of us would think to say ‘country’. Pop, sure. Folk, maybe. Indie rock, alright. But country until recently was on the back burner. Sure some artists popped up every now and then, but rarely. Enter Kacey Musgraves, the inspiration for this episode.

This isn’t going to just be about Kacey, but when her Album Golden Hour released we fell so immediately in love with it that we were inspired to take country more seriously. Especially her brand of folksy country, more akin to the likes of the pre-9/11 country roots. There’s no talk about pickup trucks, no performative patriotism. Just great songs and a great voice.

We talk about our histories with country, particularly the ladies we loved. Dolly Parton, Reba, the Dixie Chicks, and even talk about some newer acts like Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert. We had a lot of fun.

As a bonus the episode is PACKED with clips from our favorite songs. So come sing along! We’re joined by Cat from @ShuffleOnline today too! Overall it’s just a super fun episode and we can’t wait for you to hear it. So come hang out with us while we recount our favorite Country Music Ladies on today’s episode of So…I’m Watching This Show!
