Little Monsters is the kind of movie that’s probably going to get slept on a bit. It had little to no marketing and it only a VERY limited theatrical release before it wound up on Hulu to get buried in an algorithm. But we think you should make the effort to dig this one up.

Little Monsters stars Alexander England as a down and out failed musician stuck helping take care of his nephew, Felix. He soon meets Felix’s teacher Ms Caroline, played by the ever-stunning Lupita Nyong’o. On a field trip to some sort of petting zoo/mini golf course, a hoard of zombies escapes a nearby high security US Army base and wreaks havoc. It’s campy and silly but ultimately a lot of fun.

It’s not going to get any awards and it probably won’t wind up on any ‘best of’ lists, but we liked it. Some of the gags are pretty good, but really the success of Little Monsters sits firmly on the cast. Honestly Lupita’s charm could carry a movie this light on its own. As a bonus, Josh Gad plays a mean and bitter children’s entertainer who adds an interesting dynamic to the situation. Even the kids managed to add the experience. Well, all but one of them. You’ll know who I’m talking about.

Anyway, go check Little Monsters out. It’s on Hulu, it’s barely 90 minutes, and you’re in for a few laughs. It’s a no-BRAINer. So make sure your chips are dairy-free, grab an epi-pen, and join us for today’s episode of So…I’m Watching This Show!
