As you can see from the very informative title, Anna Karenina is a 2012 film adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s novel of the same name. It stars Kiera Knightley, Matthew Mcfadyen, Jude Law, Aaron Taylor Johnson, and a host of other big names. It’s helmed by Joe Wright of Atonement fame and it’s good despite what some nerds may tell you.

Like most things, we love this movie, but it is a bit divisive. It uses a storytelling technique that definitely seems to have split audiences. Instead of everything taking place IRL, some things are expressed using a stage production as a metaphor and it’s FINE, critics! You hear me?! Kristin has had enough of professional critics tearing things about because they’re fun. She explains MUCH further in the episode.

This episode does talk about the plot of Anna Karenina, but really they dig into the over arching themes of the movie such as love, adultery, and even women’s space in literature. This movie also illuminated Wil to why women sometimes breakdown thus giving him a greater understanding of Britney Spears’ troubling 2007.

It’s a fun episode with some good insight into everything mentioned above and we think you’ll like it. And you should definitely watch Anna Karenina.
