The new adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma has inspired us to look at some other classic takes on her even more classic novels! So of course we had to prioritize Pride & Prejudice. We’ve been threatening to cover it for a while because we knew we wanted friend of the show Rachel to join us. And she did!
We thought we were going to be watching both the 1995 miniseries and the 2005 film version. However, Wil sorta bitched out on the miniseries. He explained himself though and we’re letting it slide. We do still manage to have an interesting conversation about both pieces. Not only that, but we even chat a bit about how film making changed in that ten year gap. We find that the 2005 version, now 15 years old, has way more in common with the 2020 Emma, than its miniseries counterpart. How do you guys feel about that? Do you like the newer P&P, or the old one? The new Little Women, or the 1994 version? Or even the new Emma vs the Gwyneth version?
As mentioned, our very good friend Rachel joined us for this episode. We knew she loved Pride & Prejudice and would have some fun opinions so FINALLY we got this episode done. Again, let us know where you stand on the different versions over on Twitter! We always love chatting with everyone and comparing opinions! For now though, settle in for today’s Regency AF episode of So…I’m Watching This Show!
