Leading up to the release of Netflix’s new series Cursed we could feel ourselves getting kind of excited. It comes from Frank Miller’s brain and it stars Katherine Langford who we really like. The idea of re-imagining the Arthurian legend isn’t a new one, but this take seemed to want to flip the whole thing on its head.
Unfortunately, Cursed did not work for us… like at all. While we found the pilot at least compelling, even that was kind of a mess. Then it slowly declined until finally around episode 4 or 5 it walked boringly off a cliff and lost us completely. There was just so much we didn’t like about it that you’re just going to have to listen to the episode. Suffice it to say that none of the characters make any good decisions, and none of the writers did either. We place no blame on the actors who did their damnedest with what they were given. This was a failure at a much higher level.
As we have never read the source material, we can’t be sure if it was this bad from the root. But boy did Cursed miss the mark, or at least our version of the mark. We know we have some friends and followers who did enjoy it (we are sorry, Rachelle) and for them we are happy. Never feel bad for liking something. We firmly believe that opinions are just that and there’s no such thing as a guilty pleasure. That said, for us this was a bust.
We really want to hear peoples’ opinions on Cursed especially if you disagree with us. Tell us what we’re missing over on Twitter! We are very open to discussion on this one. For now though, join us as we read Cursed for filth for 50 minutes on today’s episode of So…I’m Watching This Show!
