Well, we’ve reached the conclusion of the short but sweet recap of Loki’s MCU arc. This episode about Thor Ragnarok supposed to come out the day that Loki Episode 1 released, but that trickster changed the release date on us so now we’re a little late. That’s alright though, since we won’t get to Loki until next week anyway.
As you know, Thor Ragnarok is widely regarded as one of, if not THE, best MCU film to date. Husband/Editor gently contends that it’s Spider-Man Homecoming, but Ragnarok is a very close second. It’s a complete change for the character of Thor, and Loki follows suit. It completely ignores the flat palette set by previous MCU films (Guardians excluded, obviously) and sets Thor on a new, more fun and vibrant path. And we love it, of course. But the real thrill for us is Hela. You know why, but to hear the specifics just listen to the episode. Cate Blanchett is a queen and we want to prove ourselves to her very badly.
This movie proved to everyone that the MCU could and should have a bit more flair. When applied properly of course. Not every movie they release needs to be weird, Jeff Goldblum-riddled high fantasy, much as we’d want them to be. But if every few movies the folks at Disney would take a bit of a risk we’d appreciate it very much.
So what do you think of Thor Ragnarok? We can probably guess, but let us know over on Twitter or in the YouTube comments! Gush with us about how good Tessa Thompson and Rachel House are! If you don’t know Rachel House, look her up. For now though, grab your melty stick, put on some Grandmaster improvised chillhop and settle in for today’s snake-filled episode of So…I’m Watching This Show!
