Long, LONG have we been waiting for the Black Widow solo film. It was finally on the way when BAM! COVID once again kept us from seeing this movie. Well, finally, years after it’s inception, it has finally arrived and… it was fine.

Black Widow‘s goal was very clear; to introduce Florence Pugh’s Yelena to the MCU. And by that metric it was a complete success. She is undoubtedly the secret star of the movie and not-surprisingly she completely knocks it out of the park. She’s going to be awesome in Phase 4. Also great were the relationships between all the reunited family members. David Harbour and Rachel Weisz had great chemistry, and they worked great with both kids. All the dynamics were fun and interesting. The only downer really was the titular Black Widow herself. Not that Scarlett did a bad job, but we already know what happens to her character so we were never worried about her. It’s almost maddening that we got this movie NOW instead of in line. It’s better now than never though.

The major problem with the movie is that the villain is boring and the third act turns into one of the lesser Bond films. There’s magic brain control powder, a castle in the literal clouds, and a lot of physics-defying fist fighting while falling from the sky. It’s too much and unfortunately it does bring the movie down.

Overall, we liked Black Widow a lot, there were just some obvious problems with it. What did you guys think? Did it fall a little flat or was it worth the wait?
