It’s no secret that we’ve been somewhat critical of Disney over the years. From their Disneyfication of certain properties, to their lazy live-action remakes, they haven’t exactly been firing on all cylinders. But Jungle Cruise is a little different. They have made movies based on their popular rides before to varying success, but this seemed more like Pirates than Haunted Mansion.
And to a degree we were right. It was a lot of fun and it kept us entertained for the whole of its 2hr+ runtime. But it was A LOT. Like a LOT a lot. We get into the specifics in the episode, but it’s fair to say that Emily Blunt’s character almost dies far too many times, and there are story elements that take it one step too far. With a little trimming, Jungle Cruise could have been probably 15m shorter, and that would have tightened it right up.
We did really like Jungle Cruise though! What did you think? Was it a solid release from Disney, or just another lazy cash grab? Let us know over on Twitter or in the Youtube comments! All the engagement over on YouTube is a huge help for us so come say hi! For now though, hop in your submarine, put on some pants and settle in for today’s episode of So…I’m Watching This Show!
